The West Windsor Township Police Department's Community Policing Unit now offers R.A.D., a free self-defense program for women only.

What is R.A.D.?

The Rape Aggression Defense System is a nationally recognized program which emphasizes realistic, scenario-based training in physical self-defense as well as mental preparedness for confrontation.  While it is not intended to be a formal martial arts training program, RAD is a comprehensive course for women 16 years of age and older, providing crime prevention techniques and risk awareness, recognition and avoidance methods along with simple, practical and effective physical resistance techniques to be considered as options to the woman who is attacked.

THE R.A.D. SYSTEMS INSTRUCTIONAL OBJECTIVE:

"To develop and enhance the options of self defense, so they may become viable considerations to the woman who is attacked." - Lawrence N. Nadeau
